My name is Shreya Giduturi, and I’m currently a Freshman at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. I am pursuing my degree in marketing and may add on a business analytics co-
major. I am on the Brand Management committee through Women in Business at IU. My dream is to create South Asian-Fusion restaurants in big cities; I love embracing my culture and sharing it with others. Additionally, I am helping a family friend with her start-up business, which includes creating marketing campaigns and designing the website.
I was born in India and later brought to the United States
when I was 3 years old. Growing up, I always felt out of place. I felt extremely pressured to rebel against my culture and continued to push it away from me. The older I grew, I learned to appreciate my heritage and felt no one should be ashamed of their cultural upbringing. With that, I started my own blog addressing issues that had made me feel embarrassed of my South Asian background, such as racism and underrepresentation. Not only did my blog allow me to share these issues with other South Asians, but I was able to understand my emotions and why I felt the way I did. It feels amazing to create change and awareness, and that is exactly how MORE caught my eye.
Diversity and inclusivity: two values extremely important to me. I was introduced to MORE because of previous Women in Business members’ involvement. Immediately, I noticed how diverse MORE was, and I was happy to see a brand include women of all different backgrounds. I could tell that MORE genuinely cared about having all backgrounds equally represented in the media; I gained immediate respect for the hard work the creators put into the brand.
When I was asked to join the team, I was excited to work with so many women. In such a male-dominated world, women’s voices are often silenced. I’m grateful to work on a team where I know my opinions are appreciated and heard.
For me, to “seek MORE” is to grow professionally. I’ve always been confused about my interests and what I hope to pursue in the future. I hope for MORE to help me expand my career options and to identify what I am truly passionate about. Additionally, I hope to learn more from the wonderful women I get to work with. Each of these women has so many stories to tell, and I’m excited to be inspired by them every day!
