This Summer, we will be highlighting five empowered interns who are choosing to Seek MORE with us this semester. Get to know them by reading their stories and learning what seeking MORE means to them.
My name is Tyniesha Conwell, and I am from Indianapolis, Indiana. Recently, I just entered my sophomore year at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. I’m studying Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management with a minor in Communication Studies. Also, I will be completing a Business Foundations certificate from the Kelley School of Business. I hope to pursue working in social media and the special events team for live events, sports, fashion, entertainment, or another industry. Some of my passions are traveling new places, trying new things, and being creative.
Growing up as a kid, I really enjoyed playing dress up and wearing kid jewelry. My siblings and I used to pretend to have fashion shows in our home. When I was younger, I didn’t really know much about the specifics of beauty and cosmetics, but I would see my mom or sister wearing either lipstick, nail polish, mascara, etc. As a kid, I felt my body was always different from other girls around me. It became an insecurity of mine that I carried throughout life. Now that I am older, I learned to embrace my femininity more and love my image. The support of the people in my life, having faith, and changing my mindset helped me to gain more confidence.
This summer will be my first time with MORE Magazine for an internship. When I came across this internship, I knew right away I was interested. I love the opportunity of being in an environment that uplifts me to want more for myself and dive more into my creativity. I am excited to work with women with similar goals and be in an environment that inspires a diversity of women to achieve what they want! After I applied, I was nervous that I wouldn’t be considered. It could either have been a yes or no, so I was ready to take a leap of faith, and now I am very grateful to have the opportunity with MORE. For me, seeking MORE means pushing to your full potential, being unapologetically yourself, and creating new experiences. By doing that, I want to inspire others.
