Seek MORE with Oyenmwosasere Ekhosuehi

Updated: Jul 25

This Summer, we will be highlighting our five lovely interns, who are part of the MORE Magazine team. Seek MORE by reading their stories on who they are and why they chose MORE Magazine.

Hello! My name is Oyenmwosasere Ekhosuehi, and I am a rising sophomore at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington, where I double major in Marketing and Digital & Social Media Business Applications.

Like most freshmen, my first year of college was a completely new experience – I didn’t fully know how to prepare for it. As a first-generation college student, stepping onto campus and navigating a huge chapter was daunting and, at times, isolating. I didn’t have a step-by-step manual of what to do or how to go about my freshman year, so I had to explore, take initiative, and figure things out myself. I knew if I wanted to have a memorable experience, I would have to find opportunities that fit me but also introduced me to new things and pushed me out of my comfort zone. Looking for engaging and challenging opportunities is how I found my first community on campus and started growing my confidence.

The business school is a very competitive environment where everyone is often telling you what you should be doing and when. At first, it was very overwhelming, and I didn’t know where to begin when it came to getting involved or building connections. I decided to attend a club fair to see if there was anything that I was interested in, and that’s how I stumbled on Women in Business. I applied to join the organization on a whim, and thankfully, I got in. Women in Business has given me a strong community on campus that I can always look to for guidance. The organization has also allowed me to dig deeper into my interest as a marketing major and explore new fields like branding and design. It’s through Women in Business that I was introduced to MORE Magazine.

One of my fellow Women in Business members was formerly a Seek MORE intern. After hearing about her experience and what she gained from being on the MORE team, I became very interested. When I looked into the impact that MORE has on its community, I loved everything that I saw. I knew that being an intern was an opportunity that I wanted to commit to and grow from.

Seeking MORE means reaching for new levels and looking for ways to reach places you haven’t been before. It means learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. When I joined Women in Business, I had no idea what it entailed, but I pushed myself to learn and do my best, which is what I hope to do with this internship. To Seek MORE not only means to push yourself further, but also to keep those around you in mind and push for their success as well. This summer, I want to continue to develop myself to find out more about what it means to Seek MORE, and contribute as much as I can to Making Opportunities Reachable for Everyone. I’m excited to expand my horizons, make new relationships, and gain new skills along the way.
