Seek MORE with Lauren

Updated: May 22, 2023

This Summer, we will be highlighting our six lovely interns, who are part of the MORE Magazine team. Seek MORE by reading their stories on who they are and why they chose MORE Magazine.

My name is Lauren Taylor, a recent marketing graduate from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business (IUPUI).

My passion has always been to own my own business, which turned into specifically having my own photography business. All my life, I remember my dad taking photos of me and my family documenting every small or big event that went on. I am so glad he did because it is awesome to go back and remember those moments that he captured.

While I was in high school, I remember going to photography events with my dad, where he introduced me to the world of photography and taught me how to use a camera properly. I fell in love with taking photos on my phone when hanging out with friends and I remember them all asking me to edit their photos for them since they liked my style. When I became a senior in high school, my dad let me borrow his camera to start taking photos for fun. We went to an event at The Box Media Space where we were able to test out different Canon camera equipment and take photos of models. All of the photographers there were to tag The Box Media Space in their social media posts with the photos from that event, and the hosts of the event were to choose a winning photo. As a new photographer with little camera experience, I ended up being chosen as the winner of the photo contest and won a few prizes along with my own time slot for a photoshoot at the event space. This ultimately boosted my confidence and made me realize that I was actually good at what I loved to do. My parents bought me a camera, and I started taking senior photos of all of my friends. They loved them so much that I decided to start an Instagram page and do other people’s senior photos. Time went on and I recently made my photography business official. I am now doing professional portraits for creatives, seniors, weddings, engagements, personal branding, and more.

How I came to MORE was both because of my photography and my college internship as the Social Media and Communications Coordinator for the Kelley School of Business – Indianapolis. For my internship, I scheduled and created content for the Kelley social media platforms. One of the people in the office was filming a video with Arianna Cruz, a Kelley graduate, about starting her own business, MORE Magazine. I loved the idea of the magazine and reached out to Arianna via Instagram asking if she needed any photography help for the magazine. She quickly responded that she was needing to shoot for the new issue, Issue IV, of the magazine and met with me in person to talk over ideas. She ended up liking my ideas, and we did a photoshoot downtown on a cold February afternoon. I sent her my edited photos and awaited the launching of the magazine. Little did I know, one of the photos I took would make it on the cover of the magazine! I was so ecstatic. After attending the launch party and meeting some of the current interns for the magazine I felt very invited and included. I decided I wanted to get more involved. After MORE Magazine sent out they were looking for summer interns, I quickly responded. Now, I am able to help MORE Magazine with my marketing and photography expertise as well as learn more from the business and what it stands for.

MORE to me is using my talents to create opportunities for myself that I may not have had since I was willing to go out of my comfort zone and network with people that I look up to.
