This summer, we are highlighting our four interns who decided to seek MORE this summer with us. We are getting to know them through their writing and learning what Seeking MORE means to them.
My name is Kinsey Holtsclaw, and I am a rising sophomore at Indiana University- Indianapolis in the Kelley School of Business. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing through the Kelley Honors Program.
Aside from my degree, I am very involved on campus, as I serve on two executive boards and am a sorority member. I am currently the treasurer for the University College Student Council but was previously the Public Relations Officer and the Vice President of Operations for the Kelley Student Government. This past Spring I was fortunate enough to rush into Zeta Tau Alpha, which is a collegiate panhellenic sorority on campus, and have got to meet so many new sisters. Having these different opportunities available to me has made my college life much more enjoyable. It has let me meet so many like-minded individuals I would not have met if I hadn’t put myself out there. With that in mind, having these opportunities available to me has allowed me to display leadership skills, creativity, and overall Seek MORE.
I was first introduced to MORE Magazine when I attended an internship panel that one of my previous organizations I was an executive member of was hosting. At the time I wasn’t necessarily looking at doing an internship over the summer since I was a freshman, and I knew it was harder to get internships in your first two years of college. I attended the event anyway and two out of the three panelist who were speaking about their past internships brought up MORE and how great of an experience they had. After the event, I researched MORE and what its mission and purpose is, which is to Make Opportunities Reachable for Everyone.
From there I put my application in and was informed that I had been chosen to be a part of an amazing group of girls to be an intern. I was a little nervous at first since I had never done anything like this before and knew it was going to take me out of my comfort zone, but it has been nothing but an amazing experience for me to get to learn and network with so many people. Interning for MORE Magazine has allowed me to do content creation for the different social media pages and video creations to promote the recently published, Issue VIII.
“Seeking MORE” has formed a new meaning for me now as I intern here at MORE Magazine. Seeking MORE means pushing myself every day, even if it's not in my comfort zone to allow myself to meet and build relationships with others to gain insight and learn. There will always be skills or thoughts that you can learn from other individuals that you don’t even realize. Seeking MORE also means to me to learn more about myself and how I can make the most out of my life every day. I am very excited to continue this internship for the remainder of the summer and the opportunities it provides to Seek MORE.
